A Sunset

Fire to the west-

the flames of a sunset;

on an evening wrapping me cold

with the night’s dark embrace,

How can I blink

to miss a second

those glorious flames?

Nor will I turn my back, homewards;

till the very last flame’s extinguished

‘nd night the west has claimed-

Good night, a warm rest,

light with darkness replaced.
